A World Of Opportunities

There are over 40,000 listed stocks in the world. But most investors focus on the same names. Apple, Tesla, Amazon…

These stocks are popular because they’ve done well.

But history tells us the winners of today won’t be the winners of tomorrow. Go back 20 years and you’ll find the list of top companies has completely changed.

Welcome To Overlooked Alpha

A weekly newsletter that delivers high quality investing ideas.

Each week, we search the world for misunderstood companies, overlooked investments and hidden opportunities.

We believe that markets are inefficient and you can find alpha if you put in the work.

Join Our Community

You’ll also be invited to participate in discussion threads and AMA (ask me anything). You can ask us questions, make requests and join the discussion.

You’ll be part of a community that values independent, original equity research and abductive reasoning; looking at the facts from all angles.

As Peter Lynch reminds us  ‘in investing, the person who turns over the most rocks wins the game’. We turn over the rocks so you don’t have to.

Importantly, we don’t discriminate.

An idea can come from a tiny micro cap that no-one has heard of.

Or it could be a mega cap that has been misunderstood.

The key is to find those areas where the crowd has got things wrong.

Overlooked Alpha will eventually be a paid publication but for now it remains completely free to read.

Who’s Behind Overlooked Alpha?

Overlooked Alpha is made up of Vince Martin and Joe Marwood.

Vince Martin is the lead analyst and writer. He got his Series 7 and 63 back in 1999 and has been writing and researching stocks for over a decade. He’s a prolific equity researcher and one of the top financial analysts on TipRanks with a 4.9 star rating.

Joe Marwood is the founder of Overlooked Alpha and responsible for ideas and marketing. He has been investing in the market since 2008, has experience as a quant and has placed thousands of individual trades.

Clickbait-free Zone

Hype, exaggerated claims and clickbait sell newsletters but they don’t do you much good.

Overlooked Alpha aims to provide original analysis without clickbait. We aim to contribute not only to your wallet but your mental bank account as well.

We want you to make money and we want you to feel good. Good writing does that.

Our core values are authenticity, integrity and generosity. In other words, we do our best to bring you valuable and unbiased opportunities every week.

Skin In The Game

When we write about an investment in Overlooked Alpha you can be assured that we have looked at it from all angles.

We’re not your financial advisors but we do eat our own cooking. If we think an investment warrants a position we have no problem backing it with our own money.

Sometimes we will write about stocks we’re not investing in. As usual, we will tell you the reasons why and give you full disclosure about the stocks we own.

In other words, we aim to save you money as well as make you money.

We will never write about a stock that we have been paid to promote or give you opinions that we do not believe to be true.

What Is Our Edge?

I’d love to say that our edge comes from a clever formula or natural talent. In reality, our edge comes from carefully examining the facts and not doing anything stupid.

By refusing to chase hyped-up stocks and by ignoring the daily noise from financial media we can get ahead by following our due diligence.

Years of experience in analyzing companies has given us an ability to feel when a company is ‘overhyped’ and when a company is ‘overlooked’.

That’s not to say we won’t ever invest in a ‘hot’ company. It simply means the hype needs to be justified before we open our wallets.

The Most Important Thing

Some investors make the mistake of focusing only on stock picking. But the most important part of investing is the process.

Success comes from being disciplined. Regularly saving money and investing into quality opportunities.

We don’t believe in labels such as value or growth. We believe in finding opportunities that offer asymmetric risk to reward.

Stick to the process and don’t get smart with your portfolio.

Not Financial Advice

Nothing we write on Overlooked Alpha is intended to be personalized investment advice. We are not financial advisors and we do not make recommendations.

We also make mistakes in our analysis from time to time and we do not know your risk tolerance. The aim of Overlooked Alpha is to provide you with useful research which you can use as part of your own due diligence.
