Interesting machines that should appeal to those involved in the maker economy. Do you have any info on Abdiel Capital Management? They seem to have been buying this one all year.
The Cricut Design Space app on smartphones have more than half a million reviews and an 4,8 rating on the Apple store which is very impressive.
If they get into the 3D printer market and can build 3D models into the Cricut Design Space software so mainstream users easily 3D print, I think that could be huge.
Looking forward to see full year 2022 results, and results from their expansion into Japan and South Korea.
yeah, I think there's something here. stock keeps falling, of course. real q seems to be how big their market really is post-pandemic. I think it's big enough
they were buying all last year - there was some speculation that they were trying to essentially corner the float (which was, and remains, rather low).
Abdiel posted pretty spectacular returns on the way up...not sure how that plays out on the way down. Overall, I'm not quite certain on seeing their involvement as bullish/bearish. Could be a huge s/t problem if they exit, but that's also a l/t opportunity...they're probably not exiting in the single digits after buying at $35+ last year either.
yeah I think that's right...still a little intrigued with the stock up a few percentage points from where we recommended, but earnings since have added to the concerns. At the right price this still gets interesting.
One thing that came to mind for me was some way to assess the influx of new users or potential new users. It's just a proxy but looking at the growth of /r/cricut was fairly encouraging: https://subredditstats.com/r/cricut
That's really interesting, thanks! I also like using Reddit to see what people think of a particular product and it seems most reviews of Cricut's machines are positive.

Abdiel was the reason Cricut got on my radar.

Good decision to get out of this when we did.
